Who we are

iwantanew.cv is an online CV builder operated from the European Union. We act as the data controller for the personal data you upload to build and export CVs and cover letters.

What we collect

• Account data: email, display name, authentication provider (Google, Apple, or password).
• CV content: everything you type or paste — name, contact details, work history, education, skills, projects, and any text you generate with AI.
• Billing data (only if you subscribe): a customer/subscription identifier from our payment processor. We never see full card numbers.
• Usage data: number of AI actions per month, approximate log timestamps, and error reports.

Why we process it

• To deliver the CV builder you signed up for (contract).
• To operate the AI features you trigger (contract + your explicit request).
• To bill you if you subscribe to a paid plan (contract).
• To keep the service secure and stable (legitimate interest).

Where your data lives

All application data is stored on infrastructure hosted inside the European Union. AI requests are processed via our AI gateway in the EU wherever possible; if a specific AI model is only available outside the EU, the request is routed under standard contractual clauses.

Sharing

We share personal data only with the sub-processors that make the service work: our EU cloud host, our AI gateway, and (if you pay) our payment processor. We never sell personal data. We never share your CV content with recruiters or third parties without your explicit action.

Your rights (GDPR)

You can access, correct, export, or delete your data at any time. Use the GDPR page or email us via the contact form. You can also lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.

Retention

We keep your CV content as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your CV content, cover letters, and application tracker entries within 30 days. We keep minimal billing records for the period required by tax law.

How we use AI

• AI features only run when you trigger them — writing, rewriting, tailoring, translating, ATS checks and interview prep. Nothing is generated in the background.
• AI output is a draft, not advice. It can be inaccurate or invented. You are responsible for checking every claim before you send a CV or letter to an employer.
• We do not use your CV content to train AI models, and our AI providers are contractually bound not to train on it either.
• No hiring decision is made by us or by AI on this site. We never score, rank or filter you as a candidate.
• Translations into non-European languages are machine-made and labelled as such in the app.
• Example CVs, names and photographs shown on our marketing pages are AI-generated and do not depict real people.
• If you add your own AI provider key, those requests go directly to that provider under their terms and their data policy applies.

Cookies

We use strictly necessary cookies for authentication and no third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

Changes

If we materially change this policy, we will notify you by email or in-app before the change takes effect.
