Writing a CV for Norway

Norwegian CVs are short, plain and honest. References are usually named, the søknad is expected, and formal documentation of qualifications matters in regulated sectors.

What gets CVs rejected

  • Omitting references entirely — Norwegian employers call them.
  • Overselling. Understated, verifiable claims read as more credible.
  • Ignoring the language requirement in healthcare, teaching and public administration.

Language: Norwegian or English, depending on sector

Finding the roles

  • Oslo for tech and finance; Stavanger and Bergen for energy and maritime.
